Charming historic ambiance made for a cozy retreat.

During my stay, the room was uncomfortably warm some evenings, making it difficult to sleep. Although a fan was provided, it was still an annoyance. Also, the lack of a fridge in the room was disappointing, especially for someone who enjoys having cold beverages at hand. While there are nearby cafes for breakfast, it's frustrating to have limited dining options right at the inn.

The English Merchant'S Inn offers a unique experience reminiscent of staying in a museum. The proprietor, Howard Baskin, provides an exceptionally warm welcome and shares fascinating history about the building and the town. The cozy accommodations are spotless, complete with a comfortable bed. Breakfast at local cafes, such as Rhino Coffee, was delicious and convenient. I truly appreciated the private balcony in my room, providing a great spot to unwind.

The breakfast selection involves visiting nearby cafes rather than dining on-site.

The unique decor and antique charm set it apart, making you feel like you’ve stepped into a storybook!

The place is a gem with its cozy atmosphere, perfect for a family getaway. We had a fun visit to the Dallas Zoo, just a short drive away, and the Cottage was spacious enough for my adult children and us to relax together.

My kids wished there were more activities for them around.

Free parking made it easy. loved the flat-screen TV. Train noise was annoying.
